Goodly’s professional journey brings together education, culture, communications, and mentorship. His career has included classroom teaching, educational leadership, higher education, broadcast journalism, and Hip Hop media.
Growing up in San Bernardino helped develop Goodly’s commitment to mentorship and educational opportunity. He participated in Black Future Leaders, Inc., an Inland Empire based program promoting achievement and leadership among Black youth. Years later, he returned as a committee member to support its mission and pay forward those opportunities to the next generation.
Before education became the focus of his professional work, Goodly developed a foundation in mass communications. His experience includes broadcast journalism, Hip Hop radio, digital music journalism, and interviewing figures across music, literature, culture, and athletics. He later worked as an NBC News producer and produced a weekly radio program for one of the foundational voices of West Coast Hip Hop.
Today, Goodly brings together many of those experiences into his work. Through educational leadership and university teaching, he combines communication, culture, scholarship, and relationship building to engage learners and enrich the educational experience.
